On October 31, Taobao Flash Sale officially introduced its new chain convenience brand, "Taobao Convenience Store." Leveraging Alibaba's ecosystem supply chain advantages, this brand will offer consumers a comprehensive, 24/7 shopping experience with 30-minute delivery through flash warehouses. The service is set to launch on November 1.
"We are committed to mutual growth with our ecosystem—no warehouse construction, no store openings, and no competition with merchants for profits," emphasized Gen Xian, General Manager of Taobao Flash Sale's instant retail division. Taobao Convenience Store operates via brand authorization, granting qualified merchants the right to use the brand while retaining ownership of their stores. Merchants provide services according to platform standards to enhance the consumer shopping experience.
The first batch of Taobao Convenience Stores will allocate 34 slots to merchants capable of delivering high-quality services. The primary warehouse models include flagship and standard warehouses with around 10,000 SKUs. Special warehouse types will also be introduced for campus scenarios to cater to student needs.
In the coming year, Taobao Convenience Store aims to expand to over 200 cities nationwide. Additionally, Taobao Flash Sale will invest 2 billion yuan in dedicated funds to help merchants upgrade warehouse quality, improve product standards, strengthen logistics capabilities, and advance digitalization efforts.
