A key breakthrough has been achieved in the construction of the Dalian Changhai Bridge, the largest cross-sea bridge in Northeast China, with the 11.6-kilometre main offshore steel trestle now fully connected ten days ahead of schedule.

This main trestle is currently the longest offshore steel trestle under construction in China and serves as the core supporting facility for the Changhai Bridge project. The construction effort was substantial, involving the installation of 3,431 steel piles and a total steel usage of 67,000 tonnes over a 423-day construction period.

The successful completion of the steel trestle creates a seamless connection between the land-based trestle and the main bridge's steel platform, establishing an all-weather offshore construction corridor. This significantly improves the efficiency of transporting materials, equipment, and personnel, while also reducing safety risks associated with offshore operations.

This milestone marks the official transition of the southern construction zone of the Changhai Bridge into the primary foundation construction phase. The Dalian Changhai Bridge, with a total length of 25.5 kilometres, is a critical cross-sea hub project for Liaoning Province, designed to enhance the coastal transportation network, connect the mainland with islands, and drive regional high-quality development. The bridge is scheduled to open to traffic in 2029.
