Universe Entertainment and Culture Group Company Limited (Stock Code: 1046) released its unaudited interim results for the six months ended 31 December 2025, reporting total revenue of HK$57.78 million, compared with HK$249.03 million for the corresponding period last year. The net loss narrowed to HK$9.90 million from HK$74.72 million a year earlier.
According to the announcement, the film distribution, exhibition, and licensing segment generated HK$32.36 million in revenue, a decrease from HK$229.71 million the previous year. The financial printing services segment reached HK$19.82 million, surging from HK$12.95 million. Trading, wholesaling, and retailing of optical and watch products recorded HK$4.95 million in revenue, while leasing of investment properties contributed HK$0.28 million. Securities investments reported a fair value loss of HK$0.49 million during the period.
The announcement highlighted the decline in revenue from film distribution activities, attributed to fewer new releases and reduced average revenue per film. However, the net loss narrowed substantially due to the absence of significant impairment on film rights and films in progress, which amounted to HK$64.54 million in the same period last year.
No interim dividend was declared for the reporting period. The statement indicated that Hong Kong’s challenging operating environment has posed headwinds, and the group will continue to apply cautious measures in film-related investments and operating expenses. The board believes that current resources remain sufficient for ongoing business operations and future requirements.
