Wumart Supermarket recently announced that three of its "self-adjusted stores inspired by Pang Dong Lai" in Tianjin will open by the end of October. The Zhongbei and Huayuan locations will debut on October 28, followed by the Yangliuqing store on October 30.
Previously, Wumart has already launched seven adjusted stores in Tianjin, covering six districts. The Beichen store, with a 60% penetration rate of freshly prepared cooked food, has become popular among younger customers. Meanwhile, the Haiguang Temple location attracted over 22,000 visitors on its opening day and continues to maintain an average daily footfall of around 20,000, demonstrating strong market appeal.
The three new stores will undergo comprehensive upgrades following the same strict standards, with 70% of their merchandise refreshed and product structures aligning closely with Pang Dong Lai’s model (approximately 80%). Key improvements include expanded offerings in freshly prepared cooked food, bakery items, and fresh produce, along with the introduction of local time-honored brands and regional specialties tailored to Tianjin consumers.
Additionally, DMALL’s AI-powered quality control ensures rigorous management of fresh products, enforcing a "daily clearance" policy to eliminate overnight sales—better meeting the daily needs of residents in Xiqing District and the High-Tech Zone.
Store layouts will be optimized with improved shelving heights and wider main aisles. New convenience service zones will provide free tea, drinking water, packing ropes, blood pressure monitors, and pet boarding facilities.
Employee benefits have also been enhanced, with salaries rising 30%–50% post-adjustment. New hires will enjoy 10 days of paid annual leave and profit-sharing opportunities, incentivizing better service quality and customer satisfaction.
