With the final solar streetlight successfully installed and tested, Shibazi Village in Ningqiang County, Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Province, has witnessed a remarkable transformation. Five roads in the village's Groups 5 and 7 are now fully equipped with solar-powered lighting, significantly improving nighttime safety and convenience for residents.
Funded by CHINA TELECOM's Hanzhong branch with an investment of 30,000 yuan, this "Brightening Project" was completed in just one month—from planning to execution—earning praise from locals as "a practical solution that truly addresses their needs."
Shibazi Village consists of eight resident groups, with Groups 5 and 7 being particularly remote due to their mountainous terrain and scattered households. For years, these areas lacked public lighting, forcing villagers to rely on flashlights for nighttime travel. This not only caused inconvenience but also posed safety risks, especially for the elderly, children, and farmers returning late from work.
Upon learning of these challenges during field research, CHINA TELECOM's village-based work team swiftly prioritized the installation of streetlights. To ensure precise implementation, the team collaborated with the village committee and resident representatives to establish a coordinated mechanism. Multiple site inspections were conducted, along with dedicated meetings to finalize the plan, incorporating villagers' feedback while considering road layouts and foot traffic patterns.
A quality supervision team was also formed to oversee the procurement of durable, energy-efficient lighting fixtures and ensure standardized construction. Villagers actively participated by clearing sites and assisting workers, fostering a collaborative spirit in improving their community.
The newly installed 35 streetlights have not only enhanced nighttime safety but also enriched villagers' social lives. As dusk falls, more residents gather under the lights to stroll and chat, strengthening neighborhood bonds. "With the lights on, our hearts feel brighter too! CHINA TELECOM has done us a great service," remarked one delighted resident from Group 5.
Since July 2015, CHINA TELECOM's Hanzhong branch has supported Shibazi Village through poverty alleviation efforts, investing over 3 million yuan in projects like base station construction, digital village platforms, gigabit broadband access, and smart agriculture initiatives. The Brightening Project effectively addresses critical infrastructure gaps. The work team reaffirmed its commitment to resolving pressing livelihood issues and advancing rural revitalization.
