On January 23, the Chongqing Taiwanese Compatriots Investment Enterprise Association (Chongqing Taiwanese Association) held its 2026 Spring Festival gathering in Chongqing. Over 400 representatives from Taiwanese enterprises in Chongqing and members of the Taiwanese business association gathered together to celebrate the Spring Festival, share compatriot camaraderie, and outline blueprints for cooperation.

A captivating garden party infused the grand occasion with festive delight. The elegant game of touhu (pitch-pot) provided immense fun, as Taiwanese compatriots focused their energy to experience the joy of the traditional pastime. At the rubbing exhibition booth, participants personally printed auspicious New Year phrases, feeling the charm of intangible cultural heritage. Calligraphy enthusiasts wielded their brushes with gusto, producing couplets and "fu" characters brimming with blessings on paper, which were then gifted to the Taiwanese compatriots on site, conveying warm New Year wishes one by one. Compatriots moved between various experience zones, immersing themselves in the excellence of traditional Chinese culture while sharing the happiness of reunion, with continuous laughter and joy filling the venue.

During the gathering, Jian Guochuan, President of the Chongqing Taiwanese Association, detailed the impressive achievements since the new council was established: nearly 200 entrepreneurs were invited to Chongqing, building a bridge for economic and trade exchanges between Chongqing and Taiwan; leveraging the association's cohesive role by organizing members to participate in dozens of lectures and policy briefing sessions; actively engaging in public welfare initiatives, including hosting the "Ninth Cross-Strait Compatriots Blood Donation Drive," and organizing Taiwanese-funded enterprises to participate in a series of charitable activities such as purchasing rice to aid rural revitalization, donating cool drinks to care for special groups, and visiting welfare homes to comfort the elderly.

"This year marks the beginning of the '16th Five-Year Plan' period and is a crucial year for Taiwanese businesses and enterprises to seize opportunities and ride the momentum for growth," said Jian Guochuan. He stated that the Chongqing Taiwanese Association will always uphold its original aspirations, using hometown ties as a bond and cooperation as a bridge to build a "heart-to-heart link" for government-enterprise communication, diligently addressing members' concerns and jointly planning development, while continuously deepening cross-strait economic, trade, and cultural exchanges.

The "Chongqing Taiwanese Compatriots Investment Promotion Regulations" officially came into effect on January 1, 2025, and 2026 is the second year of their in-depth implementation. At the Spring Festival gathering, Taiwanese compatriots unanimously expressed that since its implementation, the regulations have provided legal safeguards and policy dividends for Taiwanese enterprises, significantly boosting their confidence and sense of security when investing in Chongqing. In the new year, they plan to increase investments in Chongqing, deepen Chongqing-Taiwan exchanges and cooperation, and promote the integrated development across the strait and the construction of a modern new Chongqing.
