China's Industry Ministry Holds Meetings with Global Corporate and Association Leaders

According to a March 23rd announcement on the WeChat public account "工信微报," Minister of Industry and Information Technology Li Lecheng, along with Vice Ministers Xin Guobin and Xiong Jijun, recently held separate meetings in Beijing with global business leaders attending the China Development Forum 2026 Annual Meeting. Attendees included Apple CEO Tim Cook, Qualcomm President and CEO Cristiano Amon, SK hynix CEO Kwak Noh-Jung, Volkswagen Group CEO Oliver Blume, Mercedes-Benz Group CEO Ola Källenius, Siemens AG CEO, President, and Board Chairman Roland Busch, Fortescue Chairman Andrew Forrest, GlobalFoundries CEO Thomas Caulfield, Broadcom President and CEO Hock Tan, and the President of the US-China Business Council Craig Allen. On March 20th, Minister Li Lecheng met specifically with Apple CEO Tim Cook in Beijing.

Officials from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology stated that China is vigorously advancing new industrialization, accelerating the establishment of a modern industrial system centered on advanced manufacturing, consolidating the foundation of the real economy, and ensuring a strong start to the "16th Five-Year Plan" period. China will further comprehensively deepen reforms, continuously expand high-level opening-up, create a first-class market-oriented, law-based, and internationalized business environment, and share the opportunities presented by Chinese-style modernization with all parties. The ministry expressed hope that multinational corporations will continue to deepen their presence in the Chinese market, engage in collaborative innovation with upstream and downstream enterprises in China's industrial chain, and achieve mutually beneficial development.

The leaders of the multinational corporations and business associations expressed gratitude for the practical measures taken by the Ministry to support the development of multinational companies in China. They indicated a willingness to actively participate in China's new industrialization process, further elevate the level and depth of cooperation with China, promote industrial and technological innovation, provide higher-quality products and services, and jointly maintain the stability of the global industrial and supply chains. Relevant department heads from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology participated in the meetings.
