Exchange-traded funds tracking South Korean equities have extended their gains.

As of the latest update, the Leveraged Samsung ETF (07747) surged 13.93% to HK$88.64, while the Leveraged SK hynix ETF (07709) advanced 9.13% to HK$57.38.

The KOSPI ETF (03121) rose 4.97% to HK$6.12, and the TR Korea ETF (02848) increased by 4.19% to HK$1,690.

Key Market Catalysts

This positive momentum is supported by the latest trade data from Korean Customs.

Driven by sustained robust demand from the global artificial intelligence industry, South Korea's total exports for the first 20 days of July reached $54.9 billion, representing a significant year-on-year increase of 52.3%.

Semiconductors were the primary driver of this export surge.

During the July 1-20 period, semiconductor exports soared by 180% year-on-year to $22.1 billion, accounting for over 40% of the total export value for that timeframe.

In other corporate developments, Samsung Electronics is reportedly establishing a dedicated robotics division, aiming to cultivate robotics as a key future growth engine and enhance its competitiveness in next-generation businesses.

Institutional Outlook and Analysis

Investment bank JPMorgan has maintained its overweight rating on South Korean equities, keeping its 12-month target for the KOSPI index unchanged at 1,250 points.

Analysts note that the upcoming earnings reports from major technology stocks, particularly within the semiconductor sector, are expected to be a critical variable determining the market's future direction.

Given that recent market corrections have largely priced in concerns over corporate profits, better-than-expected results could significantly boost investor sentiment.
