The Suzhou Market Supervision Bureau in Jiangsu Province has announced the results of its 2025 municipal-level quality inspection on bedding products (4-piece sets). The inspection, conducted in accordance with China's Product Quality Law and related regulations, assessed products from manufacturers, physical stores, and e-commerce platforms.
Key findings: 1. Product Overview: Bedding 4-piece sets typically include two pillowcases, one duvet cover, and one fitted/flat sheet (or bed skirt). These products serve essential functions in sleep comfort and bedroom aesthetics. China's bedding industry is concentrated in Shandong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Hebei, and Anhui provinces, with Jiangsu's Nantong being a national hub accounting for about half of the domestic market share.
2. Inspection Standards: Products were evaluated against multiple national standards including GB18401-2010 (basic safety technical specification for textile products) and GB/T22796-2021 (bedding products). Tests covered 12 parameters: formaldehyde content, pH value, carcinogenic dyes, color fastness (to washing, water, acid/alkali perspiration, dry/wet friction, light), fiber content, and breaking strength.
3. Results: Of 80 sampled batches (14 from manufacturers, 50 from physical stores, 16 from e-commerce platforms), 2 batches (2.5%) failed inspection. The不合格 products showed issues with fiber content labeling, breaking strength, and color fastness to acid/alkali perspiration. Authorities have initiated investigations and required corrective actions from responsible companies.
Consumer advisory: - Check product labeling for complete manufacturer information, fiber content, care instructions, and safety certifications - Examine stitching quality and fabric texture - Prefer natural fibers (cotton, long-staple cotton, modal) for comfort or polyester for durability - Wash new bedding before first use and follow proper care instructions
The bureau has published detailed lists of both compliant and non-compliant products, including brand names, specifications, and failure reasons for transparency. This inspection aims to maintain quality standards in Jiangsu's important textile industry while protecting consumer interests.
