For the quarter, Coupang reported adjusted earnings per share of $0.04, beating analysts' consensus estimate of $0.01 earnings per share. However, the company's revenue of $7.97 billion came in below Wall Street's expectations of $8.14 billion.
While Coupang's revenue fell short of projections, the better-than-expected earnings results appeared to be the primary driver of the stock's after-hours rally. The company's adjusted earnings per share of $0.08 in the fourth quarter exceeded analysts' estimates by a wide margin, which investors cheered despite the modest revenue miss.
