Shares of Circle Internet Corp. (CRCL) plummeted 6.83% during intraday trading on Monday, following a barrage of bearish analyst actions and mounting fundamental concerns that shook investor confidence.

The sell-off was primarily triggered by Morgan Stanley's downgrade of the stock to Underweight from Equal-Weight, accompanied by a drastic price target cut to $38 from $106. This deeply bearish call added to the pessimism after Mizuho Securities had earlier downgraded the stock to Underperform with a $50 target. The negative sentiment was further compounded by on-chain data showing stablecoin net outflows persisted for a third consecutive month in July, directly threatening the company's USDC reserve-income-dependent business model. Additionally, President Heath Tarbert has sold CRCL shares 10 times, cumulatively totaling over $30.77 million, intensifying concerns about management confidence.

Broader macro headwinds in the cryptocurrency market also weighed on the stock, as long-term Bitcoin holders transferred large sums and Bitcoin spot ETFs snapped a three-week inflow streak. With the company's Q2 earnings report due on August 5, investors moved to de-risk positions ahead of the release amid the growing uncertainty.
