Zhengye International (ZHENGYE INT'L) released its 2025 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report, detailing material progress on carbon reduction, resource efficiency and stakeholder engagement, alongside refreshed mid-term sustainability targets.

Governance Framework • The board retains ultimate responsibility for ESG strategy, assisted by cross-functional “Designated Personnel” who collect data, monitor performance and report annually. • Climate oversight was strengthened through dedicated board training and alignment with evolving Hong Kong Stock Exchange climate-related disclosure requirements.

Emissions Performance and Climate Targets • Paper-making operations cut total greenhouse-gas (GHG) emission intensity to 3,364.58 tCO₂e per 10,000 tonnes of paper, a 21.21 % year-on-year decline, beating the internal path toward the 2026 goal of <4,300 tCO₂e per 10,000 tonnes. • Scope 1 emissions reached 52,279.20 tCO₂e, while Scope 2 emissions totalled 204,477.95 tCO₂e. Scope 3 disclosure began with 975.89 tCO₂e from purchased goods, services and employee commuting. • Biomass fuel substitution for coal and gas, together with energy-efficiency upgrades, underpinned the reduction. Further rollout of biomass boilers and expanded renewable electricity procurement are planned.

Resource and Waste Management • Electricity and steam intensity in paper-making fell 6.29 % to 18,173.54 MWh per 10,000 tonnes of paper. • Water intensity edged down to 6.28 tonnes per tonne of paper; cumulative wastewater reuse reached 8.26 million tonnes. • Hazardous-waste intensity declined to 0.52 tonnes per 10,000 tonnes of paper. The company targets <0.30 tonnes by 2026. • Non-hazardous waste totalled 131,236.52 tonnes, equivalent to 52.12 tonnes per RMB 1 million revenue.

Social Indicators • Workforce stood at 2,478 employees; training coverage reached 98.10 %, averaging 44.26 hours per employee. • Work-related injuries fell to 20 cases; one fatality was reported. The group continues 6S management, safety drills and upgraded fire-prevention systems. • Employee welfare improvements included upgraded canteens, higher meal subsidies and dormitory enhancements.

Supply Chain and Product Responsibility • Supplier network totalled 1,636 entities after refined classification; audits focus on emission, quality and labour compliance. • No product recalls were recorded; 173 quality complaints in the Paper-making division and 2,829 in the Packaging division triggered corrective actions. • R&D emphasis on low-carbon, biodegradable packaging yielded new patents and recognition for ultra-low-grammage corrugated paper.

Community Investment • Cash donations reached RMB 0.80 million in 2025, supporting elderly care, education funds and regional charity initiatives. • Employees logged multiple volunteer programmes, including blood drives, mosquito-control campaigns and community clean-ups.

Forward Plan ZHENGYE INT'L will maintain its five-year ESG roadmap, aiming to: 1) cap paper-making GHG intensity below 4,300 tCO₂e/10 k tonnes and reach full compliance with tightening national and international carbon regulations by 2026; 2) lower hazardous-waste intensity to ≤0.30 tonnes/10 k tonnes; 3) continue expanding biomass energy use, low-carbon R&D and supplier engagement to build a greener value chain.

The company asserts that robust governance, ongoing technology upgrades and stakeholder collaboration will underpin its ambition to become a leading global eco-friendly packaging enterprise.
