On the evening of November 13, DIDA INC released the "2025 Hitch Ride Commute Observation Report," which highlights new trends in the efficiency and cost of urban and intercity hitch ride commuting based on big data and a survey of nearly 10,000 users.
The report found that hitch ride commuting efficiency has improved for three consecutive years, while costs have declined over the same period. In 2025, the average speeds for urban and intercity hitch rides were 40.2 km/h and 56 km/h, respectively, up 9.2% and 14.5% compared to 2023. The average costs for urban and intercity commutes were 37.2 yuan and 100.3 yuan, down 10.4% and 5.8%, respectively. The order volume ratio between urban and intercity commutes was approximately 3:1. Additionally, nearly 70% of urban hitch ride commutes exceeded 20 km, while nearly 60% of intercity commutes covered over 90 km. Most routes were direct trips between residential areas and workplaces.
Commuting efficiency in first-tier and new first-tier cities was similar: the average distances were 32.2 km and 36.5 km, with average durations of 52.8 minutes and 52.1 minutes, respectively. The average speeds were 38.7 km/h and 42.7 km/h. Based on early-morning (6:00–7:00) hitch ride orders in these cities, the report ranked the top 10 early-bird commuting cities, with Dongguan, Tianjin, Qingdao, Chongqing, and Beijing taking the top five spots.
The report also identified the top five intercity commuting regions by order volume: the Pearl River Delta, Yangtze River Delta, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, Shandong Peninsula, and Chengdu-Chongqing area. Among the top 10 popular intercity routes, the top five were Dongguan-Shenzhen, Suzhou-Shanghai, Langfang-Beijing, Huizhou-Shenzhen, and Guangzhou-Shenzhen.
