During the Spring Festival of the Year of the Horse, Sichuan's Aba Prefecture launched a series of diverse public fitness events under the theme "New Year Fitness Greetings," targeting broad demographics, especially youth. These activities ushered in the new year with a vibrant and healthy spirit. Prior to the holiday, the prefecture established a three-tiered coordination mechanism linking prefectural, county, and township authorities. Leveraging local venues such as township cultural stations, community sports centers, and village activity hubs, a range of practical, distinctive, and popular recreational events were meticulously organized, enabling convenient public participation right in their neighborhoods. This approach effectively realized the goal of "accessible fitness and activities close at hand." By coordinating across administrative levels and bringing activities closer to communities, the reach of public fitness extended to both urban and rural areas, infusing the festive period with dynamic energy. Throughout the holiday, Aba Prefecture witnessed enthusiastic sports participation, with urban and rural residents joining in the celebrations. In Aba County, 15 townships hosted a series of cultural and sports events titled "Pomegranate Blossoms Welcome the New Year, Seeds of Unity Celebrate the Spring," featuring activities like basketball, Tibetan chess, and tug-of-war. These events blended traditional ethnic sports with modern athletic elements, significantly enriching the fitness experience for participants. In Qiuji Township of Zoige County, basketball served as a catalyst for community bonding, with rural basketball tournaments fostering camaraderie and showcasing rural vitality, becoming a highlight of the holiday festivities. Hongyuan County's "Grassland Unity·Spring Cup" basketball tournament attracted widespread participation from local herders, boosting the county's sports development. Rangtang County focused on engaging youth by organizing fun educational sports activities, including blind drum hitting, palm pearl games, and arrow throwing. Children enjoyed interactive fun while soaking in the festive atmosphere, adding youthful exuberance to the New Year celebrations. These varied events not only ignited public enthusiasm for fitness but also painted a lively picture of celebrating the Spring Festival through sports and healthy living. According to relevant officials in Aba Prefecture, over 70 public fitness events were held at various levels during the holiday, directly involving more than 30,000 participants and indirectly engaging nearly 50,000 people. Additionally, eight public sports venues were opened, serving close to 70,000 visitors.
