On Thursday, AI cloud service provider NEBIUS (NBIS.US) announced the deployment of its first AI cloud infrastructure in London, UK. The system incorporates NVIDIA's (NVDA.US) next-generation Blackwell Ultra GPU and Quantum-X800 InfiniBand networking technology, marking another step in the company's global AI cloud expansion strategy. This deployment follows NEBIUS's previous rollouts in Europe, Israel, and the U.S., reinforcing its commitment to building a full-stack AI cloud infrastructure worldwide.
The initiative aligns with the UK government's "AI Opportunities Action Plan," which aims to enhance the country's AI industry competitiveness by providing large-scale AI training and inference capabilities to research institutions, government agencies, and enterprises. Following the announcement, NEBIUS shares rose over 3%, while NVIDIA saw a modest 0.4% increase.
Arkady Volozh, Founder and CEO of NEBIUS, stated, "This deployment is not only a new milestone for NEBIUS but also signifies the UK's AI ecosystem entering a more mature phase. By combining our proprietary cloud infrastructure with NVIDIA's cutting-edge technology, local institutions can train, deploy, and scale AI models and applications more efficiently, securely, and sustainably."
The launch comes shortly after NEBIUS introduced its "Token Factory" inference platform, designed to support AI inference workloads for both open-source and customized models, offering businesses and developers greater flexibility in computing power and AI toolchains. Industry experts note that as competition in large AI models intensifies, high-performance computing resources have become critical globally. NEBIUS's move is seen as a strategic effort to capture the UK and broader European AI infrastructure market while further solidifying NVIDIA's dominance in the global AI chip supply chain.
