Xiaomi has recently undergone executive reshuffling, with Wang Xiaoyan, Senior Vice President of Xiaomi Group, President of China Region, and General Manager of New Retail Department, no longer serving concurrently as General Manager of Mi Home.
Chen Kai, currently General Manager of Xiaomi’s Yunnan Branch, has been appointed as the new General Manager of Mi Home under the New Retail Department. He will report to Wang Xiaoyan while retaining his role as Yunnan Branch head.
Mi Home is a key component of Xiaomi’s new retail strategy. Earlier this year, Wang Xiaoyan, then Vice President of Xiaomi Group, temporarily assumed leadership of Mi Home. In July, he was promoted to Senior Vice President while continuing as China Region President, reporting to Group President Lu Weibing.
Xiaomi is accelerating the expansion of Mi Home stores. In August, the Mi Home flagship store in Kunming Park 1903 opened, which Wang described as a milestone in the brand’s premiumization and store upgrade strategy. By year-end, 3,000 stores are expected to complete their image upgrades. Additionally, Xiaomi aims to exceed 20,000 Mi Home stores, over 200 integrated "Human-Car-Home" ecosystem stores, and more than 2,000 sales-and-service combo stores nationwide.
Chen Kai’s appointment may signal Xiaomi’s intention to replicate the Kunming Park 1903 flagship model across other locations.
