Agricultural and Meteorological Authorities Issue Joint Warning for Apple Blossom Frost and Wheat Lodging Risks

Deep News

A strong cold front is expected to affect China from April 19 to 20, with temperatures dropping by more than 10°C in northwestern and northern regions. Between the night of April 19 and the morning of April 20, minimum temperatures in northern Shaanxi and western Shanxi are forecast to fall below 0°C. Apple trees in these areas are currently in the early to full blooming stage, posing a high risk of frost damage to blossoms. Additionally, from April 19 to the morning of April 20, parts of central and eastern Henan, southern Shandong, northern Jiangsu and Anhui, and northeastern Hubei will experience winds of 5–7 degrees, with localized gusts reaching 8–9 degrees. Wheat in these regions is at the booting to heading stage, increasing the risk of lodging. It is recommended that affected areas implement targeted measures to protect fruit trees from frost and prevent wheat lodging, in order to minimize the impact of extreme weather.
