On the morning of October 17, the 2026 Energy and Chemical Industry Tianfu Science and Technology Innovation Conference opened in Meishan City, Sichuan Province.
The conference, themed "Gathering Momentum for Energy and Chemical Industry Innovation," was hosted by the Meishan Municipal People's Government, Sichuan University, and China Chemical Industry News.
Academicians, experts, and leading enterprises gathered to conduct in-depth discussions on frontier trends and green transformation pathways in the energy and chemical industry, offering insights and recommendations for industry development.
At the meeting, representatives from Sichuan University and Sichuan Chuanda Technology Industry Group Co., Ltd. respectively introduced the relevant details of the Sichuan University Meishan Campus and the Chuanda Science and Technology Park Meishan Branch.
Meishan also released the "Meishan New Energy and New Materials Chemical Industry Opportunity List."
This list focuses on three categories of resources on the supply side and two tracks on the demand side, including 25 demand items such as the Meishan integrated photovoltaic and energy storage project, integrated charging and battery swap stations for logistics heavy trucks, photovoltaic-storage-flexible integrated technology, and solid-state battery interface treatment technology research, as well as 52 supply items covering fund systems, comprehensive energy, virtual power plants, science and technology innovation incubation and achievement transformation, and pilot-scale transformation services.
In addition, the first batch of eight Meishan laboratories and the Meishan City Linkage Station for a New Model of Industrial Technology Research and Transformation—nine science and technology innovation platform carriers in total—were announced at the conference.
Among them, the eight Meishan laboratories are primarily positioned around the lithium battery industry, the low-altitude economy, and the 人工智能 (Artificial Intelligence) industry sectors.
They are respectively the Meishan Solid-State Lithium Battery Materials Innovation Laboratory, the Meishan Lithium Battery Anode Advanced Materials Laboratory, the Meishan Lithium-Based New Energy Materials Laboratory, the Meishan Lithium Battery Cathode Materials High-Tech Laboratory, the Meishan Low-Altitude Intelligent Flight Laboratory, the Meishan Low-Altitude Data Analysis and Processing Laboratory, the Meishan Spatial Intelligent Perception and Large Model Application Laboratory, and the Meishan Precision Transmission Intelligent Equipment Innovation Laboratory.
"This is the first time Meishan has coordinated the layout of a municipal-level laboratory system from the top down, aiming to concentrate research and development forces scattered across universities, research institutes, and enterprises around the development needs of key industrial chains, forming a unified effort to build its own capacity for innovation-driven development, while also reserving strength for the creation of provincial-level laboratories," said a responsible person from the Meishan Municipal Science and Technology Bureau.
On the same day, a certificate issuance ceremony was also held for the Meishan Energy and Chemical Industry Strategic Advisory Expert Committee, presenting appointment letters to the appointed experts.
During the keynote speech session, academicians and experts from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, as well as industry experts, delivered reports on frontier topics such as sustainable polymer materials, the construction of a new energy system and the cultivation of interdisciplinary talent, and intellectual property empowering new quality productive forces, jointly discussing the innovative development of the energy and chemical industry.
In recent years, Meishan has focused on developing the new energy and new materials industry, building a hundred-billion-yuan industrial cluster featuring lithium batteries, crystalline silicon photovoltaics, and chemical new materials developing in parallel.
