September 10th - According to reports, Mr. Liu from Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province, complained that he purchased Gaotu Techedu Inc.'s 2025 graduate entrance examination courses for English, Mathematics, and Politics, spending a total of 10,105 yuan. At the time of purchase, the instructor promised these would be live broadcast courses.
When reviewing the courses recently, Mr. Liu discovered that in a supposedly live class from May, the teacher greeted students with "Happy New Year" at the beginning, revealing that the live courses had actually been pre-recorded sessions. When he inquired with Gaotu instructors and secondary teachers about this issue, none provided a direct response.
The company offered to compensate with additional courses, but without Mr. Liu's consent, Gaotu unilaterally added a 2026 graduate entrance examination mathematics course to his account. Mr. Liu criticized this behavior as suspected fraud and demanded a refund of his tuition fees, but received no proper resolution. While the 12345 government hotline suggested both parties negotiate, Gaotu continues to avoid addressing the issue.
Media outlets reached out to Gaotu for verification regarding this matter, but as of publication, the company has not provided a response.
