NIO-SW continued its afternoon surge, with gains expanding to 18%. The stock has risen nearly 40% over the past three trading days, with trading volume exceeding HK$1.1 billion.

NIO Inc. Chairman Li Bin responded to the new ES8 pre-sale pricing strategy on August 22. The new vehicle offers three versions with pre-sale prices starting from RMB 416,800, representing a RMB 111,200 decrease compared to the second-generation ES8 and falling below market expectations. Li Bin acknowledged that this pricing impacts existing users, but stated that NIO Inc. needs to adjust its strategy to remain competitive in the market. He admitted that the second-generation ES8 had flawed product positioning, and the new ES8's mission is to correct this error. Li Bin also noted that NIO Inc. remains a newcomer in the automotive industry with no room for complacency. To survive, the company made what it considers the most reasonable decision for overall development.

Last Thursday evening on the 21st, NIO Inc. announced the pre-sale pricing for the new ES8. The vehicle comes in three different versions and will officially launch with deliveries beginning in late September. For pricing, the whole vehicle purchase option starts at a pre-sale price of RMB 416,800, while the battery rental purchase option begins at RMB 308,800. Compared to the second-generation NIO Inc. ES8, which launched with a starting price of RMB 528,000, the new generation ES8's starting price has dropped by RMB 111,200. This pricing also falls below the market's previous expectation of RMB 500,000.
