A training session for Red Cross first aid personnel was recently conducted in Jiangxiang Town, Nanchang County, Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province, aiming to enhance the emergency rescue and response capabilities of grassroots officials and strengthen the safety net for public health and life in the community. Over 40 village and community cadres participated in the training, systematically learning first aid knowledge and honing their emergency response skills to effectively bridge the "last mile" in emergency rescue services.

The training adopted a combined approach of "theoretical explanation, case analysis, practical drills, and assessment evaluation." During the theoretical segment, professional instructors from the county Red Cross Society explained in simple terms the Heimlich maneuver, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs), addressing common emergency scenarios such as sudden fainting, choking in the elderly, and accidental traumatic bleeding.

For the Heimlich maneuver, the instructor used scenario simulations to vividly demonstrate key techniques, emphasizing rescue methods tailored to different groups (adults, children, and infants), helping village cadres master practical life-saving skills. Regarding CPR, the instructor highlighted the critical "golden four minutes" for rescue, detailing the complete process from assessing consciousness and calling for help to chest compressions and artificial respiration, while explaining key points such as compression depth, frequency, and artificial respiration techniques.

For AED usage, the instructor broke down steps such as powering on, applying pads, and delivering shocks using illustrated presentations and real-case videos to ensure cadres understood the operational procedures.

During the practical drill session, participating village cadres practiced CPR and AED usage on mannequins in groups. The instructor provided individualized corrections on details such as compression depth, operational procedures, and bandaging techniques, patiently explaining key points to help cadres overcome practical challenges and ensure each participant mastered the essential first aid skills.

Moving forward, Jiangxiang Town will use this training as an opportunity to deepen cooperation with the county Red Cross Society, establish a regularized emergency rescue training mechanism, promote first aid knowledge in rural areas, communities, and enterprises, expand training coverage, and enhance public awareness and skills in first aid. By leveraging grassroots efforts to encourage broader public participation, the town aims to strengthen the safety net for life and health in the community, foster a positive social atmosphere where "everyone learns first aid, and first aid is for everyone," and provide solid support for building a safe township and safeguarding public health and life.
