ByteDance and Alibaba Lead Fierce AI Talent War as Related Positions Surge 29-Fold in 18 Months

The artificial intelligence sector's talent acquisition battle has reached fever pitch in 2025, extending even to internship recruitment markets. According to recent job statistics from professional networking platform Maimai, AI-related positions experienced a 10-fold year-over-year increase in February 2025, marking a pivotal turning point. By July 2025, AI-related job openings had skyrocketed 29 times compared to January 2024.

Currently, over 1,000 companies are actively recruiting AI talent on Maimai. These enterprises span multiple industries including internet, e-commerce, and large language models, encompassing tech giants like ByteDance and Alibaba, as well as vertical sector specialists such as MiniMax and Momenta.

As of July 2025, Maimai hosts over 72,000 active AI job postings, covering both technical and non-technical roles. Non-technical positions include operations, design, human resources, project management, sales, and marketing functions.

Concurrently, AI-related position salaries have surged dramatically. In July 2025, the average minimum monthly salary for AI positions reached 47,000 RMB, representing a 14.16% increase from January 2024, while the average maximum reached 78,000 RMB monthly, up 8.98% over the same period. Some internship positions command daily rates as high as 4,000 RMB, significantly exceeding the income levels of full-time employees in most other industries.

AI sector professionals also demonstrate strong job mobility intentions, maintaining high activity levels on Maimai. According to Maimai's Commercial Operations Director Yang Ying, since February 2025, the platform has added over 10,000 new AI professionals monthly who are "actively seeking opportunities." As of July 2025, 41.07% of employees at leading domestic AI companies have set their job status to "actively seeking opportunities," indicating clear intentions to change positions.
