Vietnam Manufacturing and Export Processing (Holdings) Limited (VMEP) released its unaudited interim results for the six months ended 30 June 2026, highlighting weaker sales volumes, margin compression and a swing to loss amid intensified market competition and softer export demand.

Financial Performance • Revenue dropped 18.9% year on year to USD 37.79 million, reflecting lower motorbike shipments in both Vietnam and key export markets. • Gross profit contracted 52.6% to USD 2.56 million; gross margin slid to 6.8% from 11.6%, pressured by higher fixed‐cost absorption as volumes fell. • The Group recorded a net loss of USD 1.42 million versus a marginal profit of USD 0.04 million in the prior-year period, translating to a −3.8% net margin (H1 2025: +0.1%). • Operating loss reached USD 1.71 million (H1 2025: USD 0.90 million profit). Net finance swung to income of USD 0.54 million (H1 2025: USD 0.70 million cost), aided by a USD 1.00 million foreign-exchange gain and lower interest expense. • Administrative and other operating expenses declined 12.9% to USD 2.71 million following cost-control measures. • An impairment charge of USD 0.19 million was booked against property, plant and equipment.

Operational Highlights • Domestic motorbike sales fell 20.5% to about 17,800 units amid heightened competition and consumer caution toward internal-combustion models. • Export volume contracted 25.5% to roughly 13,700 units, hampered by elevated distributor inventories and soft demand in ASEAN, Europe and the Middle East. • The Group maintained annual production capacity at 200,000 units and focused on its Priti, NAGA and TPBW series (50cc–150cc engines) while exploring emerging markets such as Burkina Faso.

Balance Sheet & Liquidity • Net current assets totalled USD 43.27 million (31 Dec 2025: USD 45.00 million). • Cash and bank balances stood at USD 50.56 million, down from USD 58.92 million at year-end 2025; USD 12.83 million of time deposits were pledged for banking facilities. • Interest-bearing loans due within one year decreased to USD 20.84 million (31 Dec 2025: USD 37.18 million), lowering the gearing ratio to 44.5% from 76.7%.

Capital Expenditure & IPO Proceeds • Only USD 0.20 million of the USD 76.70 million IPO proceeds was utilised during the period, leaving USD 16.60 million unspent, primarily earmarked for land development and production site relocation. • No significant acquisitions, disposals or treasury share transactions were recorded; capital commitments and contingent liabilities were nil.

Outlook Management anticipates continued economic uncertainty globally but expects Vietnam’s motorcycle demand to stay resilient, particularly for ICE models outside urban areas. VMEP plans product refreshes for its Priti series and a 150cc scooter rollout to bolster competitiveness in domestic and export markets while monitoring policy shifts toward transportation electrification.
