UOB Kay Hian released a research report stating that consumption data during this year's extended New Year holiday (February 15-23) reflects positive growth momentum in the domestic consumer market compared to last year's two Golden Week holidays. The report views this as a preliminary sign of a broader recovery in consumer spending, with particular attention on the performance of tourism, culture, and the catering sector. The firm is optimistic about industries showing early signs of recovery, those involved in China's structural consumption growth drivers, beneficiaries of potential policy support, and those with overseas growth opportunities. These include catering, services, and experiential consumption. Top picks are ANTA SPORTS (02020), CHINA RES BEER (00291), China Tourism Group Duty Free Corp. (601888.SH), HAIDILAO (06862), Midea Group (000333.SZ), and YUM CHINA (09987), all of which are assigned a "Buy" rating. UOB Kay Hian maintains an "Overweight" rating on the domestic consumer sector. Based on consumption and travel data from the holiday period, UOB Kay Hian adjusted target prices for several stocks. The target price for HAIDILAO was raised to HK$19.7, for Li Ning (02331) to HK$21.6, for Kweichow Moutai (600519.SH) to RMB 1,682, and for Wuliangye Yibin (000858.SZ) to RMB 115.1.
