HSBC Appoints Edward Chiu as Head of Private Banking for Taiwan

HSBC announced today (May 22) the appointment of Edward Chiu as Head of Private Banking for the Taiwan market, effective June 1. Edward Chiu has over two decades of experience in Taiwan's wealth management and high-end retail banking sectors. Since 2024, he has served as Head of HSBC Taiwan's Premier Elite department. Prior to joining HSBC, he held several senior management roles at DBS Bank and Citibank, achieving notable results in revenue growth, talent development, and client expansion. According to HSBC's statement, in his new role, Edward Chiu will oversee the bank's local private banking operations in Taiwan, coordinating with other business units within the group to provide comprehensive financial services to Taiwanese clients. He will report to Kanas Chan, Head of Private Banking for North Asia and Hong Kong, and Kevin Hu, Head of International Wealth Management and Premier Banking for HSBC Taiwan. Commenting on the appointment, Kanas Chan stated, "Taiwan is a strategically important and core growth market within our North Asia business. The appointment of Edward Chiu will strengthen our management team in Taiwan, demonstrating our commitment to expanding our local presence and enhancing client service. With his extensive expertise and proven track record in serving high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients, I am confident that under his leadership, we will accelerate the development of our Taiwan business and usher in a new phase of growth."
