GUOFUHEE (02582), a leading hydrogen energy technology and equipment provider in China, has announced a major breakthrough in its Qilu liquid hydrogen project. The project, which utilizes the company’s proprietary core equipment and engineering services, has successfully achieved mass production with a daily output of 10 tons of liquid hydrogen.

This marks China’s first 10-ton-scale liquid hydrogen plant with fully independent intellectual property rights, representing years of technological innovation and engineering expertise. The milestone lays a solid foundation for large-scale liquid hydrogen industrialization in China and strengthens the high-quality development of the hydrogen energy sector.

The project’s journey has been methodical. In May 2023, GUOFUHEE successfully developed the core equipment, overcoming multiple technical challenges in liquid hydrogen production. By May 2024, the company completed installation and full-process debugging in Zibo, Shandong, passing rigorous evaluations by domestic liquid hydrogen experts. Now, after extensive optimization and stability testing, the plant has officially entered mass production, fulfilling its promise of technological advancement and industrial application.

Key technical advantages of the project include: - A comprehensive energy consumption rate below 12 kW·h/kg-LH2. - Para-hydrogen content exceeding 98.5% and purity above 7N, meeting international standards. - Significant cost optimization for liquid hydrogen production.

The equipment employs GUOFUHEE’s proprietary multi-stage precooling hydrogen expansion refrigeration technology, featuring a self-developed 20K hydrogen liquefaction cold box and hydrogen expander. Its compact structure, high heat exchange efficiency, and stable operation make it ideal for large-scale applications.

Compared to LNG projects, liquid hydrogen offers greater economies of scale. Drawing from U.S. industry experience, costs decrease substantially as production scales up. The Qilu project’s success reinforces confidence in China’s liquid hydrogen expansion and paves the way for future 100-ton-scale facilities.

As a critical component of China’s “West-to-East Hydrogen Transmission” strategy, ultra-large liquid hydrogen plants will facilitate long-distance multimodal transport and market adoption. They also provide efficient peak-shaving and energy storage solutions for hydrogen pipelines, enabling cost-effective, high-quality hydrogen for civilian applications.

Over the next decade, China will focus on fostering emerging and future industries, including new energy, advanced materials, aerospace, and low-altitude economy, as outlined in the national development plan. Liquid hydrogen, as a premium energy carrier, will drive innovation in aerospace, quantum technology, superconductivity, and nuclear fusion, unlocking trillion-yuan market opportunities.

GUOFUHEE is strategically positioning itself at the forefront of the liquid hydrogen industry. Aligned with China’s “dual-carbon” goals, the company continues to refine technology, reduce costs, and promote the commercialization of green hydrogen production, storage, and transportation—ensuring liquid hydrogen plays a pivotal role in China’s high-tech industrial transformation and value creation.
