On December 18, the Snapmaker U1 3D printer was showcased at JD.com's offline product experience event held at JD MALL in Beijing's Shuangjing area from December 16 to 18.
The Snapmaker U1 previously set a crowdfunding record for 3D printers on Kickstarter, raising $20.61 million. During its exclusive presale on JD.com starting December 12, it surpassed 2,000 orders within just two hours, topping JD.com's 3D printer category.
Featuring the innovative SnapSwap™ independent quadruple-printhead system, the Snapmaker U1 effectively addresses the efficiency limitations of traditional single-head 3D printers, achieving "5x speed and 5x material savings."
At the JD MALL exhibition, visitors observed the printer's four printheads switching automatically and rapidly, with each change completed in under five seconds. The process eliminates manual material changes and minimizes waste, delivering seamless, automated printing with sharp color boundaries and detailed surface finishes.
The Snapmaker U1's core innovation lies in its SnapSwap™ system, which operates like a "multi-color pen." By avoiding the color-flushing process of traditional single-head printers, it boosts efficiency while reducing material consumption. The U1 completes four-color printing tasks in just 5–6 hours—up to five times faster than conventional printers—while cutting material usage by approximately 80%.
The Snapmaker U1 is set for official release on JD.com on December 25.
