According to market data, pickup truck sales in July 2025 reached 41,000 units, representing a 1.7% year-on-year increase and a 15.0% month-on-month decline, positioning at the median level of the past five years. For the January-July 2025 period, pickup truck sales totaled 348,000 units, marking an 11.0% year-on-year growth.

Great Wall Motor Company Limited continues to maintain its strong leadership position in the pickup truck sector, demonstrating excellent performance both domestically and internationally. Driven by export market demand, Great Wall Motor Company Limited, SAIC Maxus, Zhengzhou Nissan, Changan Automobile, and JAC Motors have all shown robust performance. The domestic pickup truck market maintains its "one leader, three strong players" competitive landscape.

The primary demand regions for pickup trucks remain in Southwest and Northwest China. In July 2025, these two regions accounted for 45% of total pickup truck demand, establishing themselves as the two core markets. With the development of new energy pickup trucks, cities like Shenzhen and Guangzhou in Guangdong Province have shown strong growth in the new energy pickup segment, providing better opportunities for domestic market expansion.

**Export Performance**: Pickup truck exports reached 23,000 units in July 2025, declining 13% month-on-month. While exports have shown month-on-month declines in recent months, they still achieved a 13% year-on-year increase. Exports accounted for 45% of total pickup truck sales in 2024, rising to 56% in July 2025 and 55% for the January-July 2025 period, demonstrating improved performance for Chinese domestic pickup truck exports. Several pickup truck manufacturers have capitalized on export opportunities to achieve strong growth, including JAC Motors, Byd Company Limited, SAIC Maxus, Changan Automobile, and Great Wall Motor Company Limited, all maintaining substantial export volumes. Many pickup truck manufacturers' exports now represent more than half of their total pickup truck sales. As an internationally-oriented vehicle category, pickup trucks have become the strongest segment in China's commercial vehicle exports.

**New Energy Pickup Trucks**: National new energy pickup truck sales reached 21,200 units in 2024, representing a 170% year-on-year increase. In July 2025, new energy pickup sales totaled 4,000 units, up 182% year-on-year but down 41% month-on-month. The January-July 2025 cumulative new energy pickup sales reached 46,000 units, surging 702%, demonstrating significantly stronger performance than traditional fuel pickup trucks. Compared to the explosive logistics demand for electric light trucks, electrification represents the optimal approach for enhancing commercial vehicle road access rights. With the advancement of electrification and passenger car features, the pickup truck market space is gradually improving.

July new energy pickup truck sales breakdown included: Byd Company Limited pickup trucks with 1,814 units, Geely Radar electric pickup trucks with 1,430 units, Changan range-extended pickup trucks with 555 units, Zhengzhou Nissan with 317 units, and other pickup truck manufacturers also achieving considerable new energy vehicle sales volumes.

With the launch of the domestic new energy pickup truck market and gradual market cultivation, China's pickup truck industry is expected to develop more rapidly to meet both domestic and international demand.
