Elon Musk responded to a post about SpaceX shifting its focus from Mars to the Moon by stating, "To be clear, we are still going to do the Mars mission. I think this change will not extend the time needed to build a self-sustaining city on Mars by more than 5 years, and it may ultimately accelerate the Mars mission."
