Meituan: Court Issues Pre-litigation Injunction to Stop Plugins That Harm Riders' Fair Order Access Rights

Meituan's official account announced today that delivery riders have been continuously providing tips to the company about individuals using plugin "black technology" to grab orders, causing significant harm to rule-abiding riders. Following these leads, Meituan discovered that a technology company had been producing and selling a plugin device called "order slider" on a large scale over an extended period. The company immediately secured evidence for litigation and applied to the court for a "pre-litigation behavioral injunction," requesting the defendant to immediately cease infringement activities to minimize harm to riders' rights and interests.

Recently, the Guangzhou Intermediate People's Court announced details of the case. After review, the Huangpu District People's Court supported the platform's application and issued a pre-litigation behavioral injunction against the technology company, ordering it to immediately stop producing, selling, and promoting related plugin products. Currently, all related online stores have been removed from all platforms.

According to reports, the technology company had been selling plugin products for an extended period with substantial sales volume, generating illegal profits exceeding one million yuan. The court has now issued a timely injunction based on relevant provisions of the Anti-Unfair Competition Law, providing strong judicial services and protection for the healthy and orderly development of the digital economy and new business formats.

Order-grabbing plugin products are widely present across numerous industry scenarios including food delivery, freight transport, ride-hailing, and ticketing. These are programs or tools that use illegal means to obtain orders on network platforms.

It is understood that plugin products attract riders to purchase by advertising "ability to grab better orders" and "selective regional order targeting." However, in actual use, the software frequently fails, not only failing to secure "good orders" but also resulting in many riders being defrauded when purchasing plugin software.

According to Meituan, the company has continuously strengthened technical measures for monitoring and identifying plugin software in recent years, proactively reporting case leads to police and securing evidence of plugin products still being sold on e-commerce platforms. The company will pursue legal responsibility for personnel involved in illegal sales of related products.

Since 2024, the company has identified and combated nearly 40 plugin software through online technical identification and cooperated with police to destroy 6 offline criminal groups. In July this year, the company assisted relevant departments in Changchun, Jilin Province in dismantling a criminal chain involved in illegal production and sale of plugin software. Following prosecution by local procuratorate, defendant Lu was sentenced to three years in prison by the court, and his offline "agents" also received prison sentences.

Meituan stated that the platform adheres to the principle of "permanent order restriction for one-time plugin use" and regularly publishes disposal updates. As the platform's efforts to combat, govern, and educate about plugin software continue to intensify, the number of riders whose accounts were banned for using plugins from January to July this year decreased by 87.7% compared to the same period last year, significantly compressing the survival space for plugin transactions.
