Involving Famous Actresses Tang Yan and Liu Shishi! Multiple Recordings Exposed

On October 31, young screenwriter "Gu Er" (Cheng Junnian) released multiple recordings, sparking heated discussions online. The content mentioned that many key scenes in the drama *Blossoms Shanghai* were written by Gu Er. In one recording, director Wong Kar-wai allegedly said about actress Tang Yan: "Let me tell you, Tang Yan is quite pretentious. So, when explaining the scene tomorrow, don’t let her arrive first. Have the teacher arrive first to warm up the atmosphere."

Screenwriter Qin Wen also revealed in the recordings that during the filming of *My Best Friend’s Story*, Liu Shishi and Ni Ni competed over lines. Qin Wen claimed that veteran actor Chen Daoming struggled to memorize lengthy dialogues, while Wong Kar-wai described actor You Benchang as "not an easy person to deal with."

Qin Wen, the screenwriter of *My Best Friend’s Story*, mentioned that Liu Shishi’s fans had complained on social media, tagging her and the official drama account, accusing the scriptwriters of reassigning important lines originally meant for Liu Shishi’s character Jiang Nansun to Ni Ni’s character Zhu Suosuo. Qin Wen speculated that since the drama was still in production, fans couldn’t have known the script details unless the actors’ teams leaked them to pressure the creative team.

Wong Kar-wai and Qin Wen also discussed Chen Daoming in the recordings, as they had considered casting him for a role. Qin Wen noted that Chen Daoming liked to modify his lines but had difficulty remembering long passages.

On September 23, the *Blossoms Shanghai* production team issued a statement condemning Gu Er for secretly recording private conversations among the creative team and selectively editing and releasing them, violating privacy and professional ethics. The statement clarified: 1. Cheng Junnian was only part of the preliminary research team and left the project in December 2020 without notice, taking materials with him. He had no involvement in the actual scriptwriting. 2. His claims about the script were largely fictional and inconsistent with facts. 3. His unauthorized recording and selective release of private discussions were unethical and illegal. 4. Legal action would be taken against his actions, which harmed the production’s reputation.

Gu Er defended his actions, claiming the *Blossoms Shanghai* team had exploited his script contributions without proper credit. His WeChat account "Gu Er Xinyu," used to release the recordings, was suspended for violating internet regulations.

As of now, none of the individuals involved have publicly responded. The account’s content has been deleted.
