Major electric vehicle (EV) makers mostly saw an increase in insurance registrations in China last week, as delivery volumes typically rise toward the end of the month.

During the week of June 23-29 -- week 26 of 2025 -- Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO) brand vehicles had 3,790 insurance registrations in China, up 16.62 percent from the previous week's 3,250 units, according to figures shared today on Weibo by several automotive industry observers.

Nio's sub-brand Onvo saw insurance registrations of 1,670 units last week, up 15.17 percent from the previous week's 1,450 units.

Nio's other sub-brand Firefly saw insurance registrations of 840 units last week, up 78.72 percent from the previous week's 470 units.

Nio Inc, including the Nio, Onvo, and Firefly brands, had 6,300 insurance registrations in China last week, up 21.86 percent from the previous week's 5,170, marking the third consecutive week of sequential growth.

Nio Inc has not yet disclosed its June delivery figures as of this writing. In May, it delivered 23,231 vehicles, up 13.08 percent year-on-year but down 2.80 percent from April.

Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) had 20,680 insurance registrations in China last week, the highest in the past 28 weeks, up 49.86 percent from 13,800 the previous week.

The US EV maker has a factory in Shanghai producing the Model 3 sedan and Model Y crossover, which are delivered to domestic customers and also serve as an export hub.

Tesla's retail sales in China in May were 38,588 units, down 30.11 percent year-on-year, though up 34.31 percent from April, according to data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

Its Shanghai factory exported 23,074 vehicles in May, up 32.93 percent year-on-year, though down 22.38 percent from April.

Tesla's June sales figures in China are expected to be available in a few days.

Earlier today, Tesla made minor upgrades to the long-range versions of its Model 3 and Model Y in China, with the former seeing a price increase and the latter remaining unchanged.

Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) had a record 11,200 insurance registrations last week, up 31.76 percent from 8,500 the week before.

The company delivered 34,611 vehicles in June, marking eight consecutive months of deliveries exceeding 30,000 units.

This represents a year-on-year increase of 224.44 percent and a 3.24 percent increase from May.

Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) had 7,960 insurance registrations last week, a decrease of 10.56 percent from the previous week's 8,900 units.

Li Auto has not yet disclosed its June delivery figures.

It delivered 40,856 vehicles in May, up 16.66 percent from 35,020 in the same period last year and up 20.38 percent from 33,939 in April.

BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) brand vehicles had 78,570 insurance registrations last week, a decrease of 5.79 percent from the previous week's 83,400.

The company sold 382,476 vehicles in May, a year-on-year increase of 15.27 percent and a 0.63 percent increase from April.

BYD's June sales figures are expected to be announced later today.

Xiaomi (HKG: 1810, OTCMKTS: XIACY) saw a record 9,090 insurance registrations last week, up 97.61 percent from 4,600 the previous week.

Xiaomi's EV unit, Xiaomi EV, delivered over 25,000 units in June, it announced earlier today.

On June 26, Xiaomi officially launched the YU7, its first electric SUV (sport utility vehicle), positioning it as a competitor to Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model Y.

The YU7 received 200,000 firm orders within the first three minutes of sales and over 240,000 locked-in orders within 18 hours, as previously announced by Xiaomi.

The Zeekr (NYSE: ZK) brand had 3,300 insurance registrations last week, a 6.45 percent increase from the previous week's 3,100.

The company has not yet disclosed its June delivery figures.

The Zeekr brand delivered 18,908 vehicles in May, up 1.57 percent year-on-year and 37.74 percent month-on-month.

Including Lynk & Co's deliveries, the Zeekr Group delivered 46,538 vehicles in May, up 12.64 percent from 41,316 in April, marking the third consecutive month of sequential growth.

Leapmotor (HKG: 9863) had a record 10,620 insurance registrations last week, up 9.48 percent from the previous week's 9,700.
