Switzerland's Competition Commission announced on Thursday that it has launched a preliminary investigation into Microsoft's license fee increases in the country.

The antitrust authority stated it has received complaints from private enterprises as well as numerous government agencies and publicly listed companies, alleging significant price hikes for Microsoft's product licenses, which may indicate improper competitive restrictions.

The agency, also known as COMCO, said in a statement, "If these indications are confirmed, it would be sufficient grounds to initiate a formal investigation."

A spokesperson for Microsoft stated, "Microsoft is committed to complying with Swiss competition law and will cooperate with the Swiss Competition Commission in its preliminary investigation work."
