The AITO M8, launched just four months ago, has delivered over 100,000 units, maintaining its lead in the 400,000-yuan segment. Regarding industry trends, Cui Dongshu, Secretary-General of the China Passenger Car Association, noted that while the NEV market has benefited from trade-in subsidies—boosting retail sales significantly in the first nine months of 2025—challenges remain. He called for long-term policies such as tax exemptions for car buyers, rural NEV promotion, relaxed licensing for compact EVs, and incentives for marriage- and child-related purchases to sustain growth.
Beyond NEVs, Robotaxi services are gaining momentum in China. On October 31, DeepRoute.ai signed an agreement with the Wuxi government to establish a testing and R&D base, accelerating the deployment of autonomous taxis. CEO Zhou Guang stated that the company plans to launch Robotaxi services using consumer-grade mass-produced vehicles by year-end, becoming the first in China to do so.
Unlike traditional Robotaxi solutions relying on retrofitted vehicles and high-definition maps, DeepRoute.ai’s approach uses off-the-shelf production cars, reducing costs while improving system stability and compatibility. Technically, its Robotaxi platform shares the same framework as mass-market vehicles, enabling mutual technological enhancement.
2025 has seen increasing commercialization of Robotaxi services, proving the feasibility of large-scale operations. Pony.ai, for instance, launched its seventh-generation Robotaxi and plans to expand its fleet to 1,000 units. According to CIC data, China’s Robotaxi market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 140.7% from 2025 to 2030, highlighting its vast potential.
