August 1st - Following Bilibili Inc.'s announcement in May to discontinue its international app and merge it with the domestic version into a unified platform, the company's overseas expansion strategy has drawn significant attention from various stakeholders.
At this year's World Artificial Intelligence Conference, Bilibili unveiled its newly self-developed "AI Original Voice Translation" feature designed to serve overseas users, enabling them to better experience gaming, technology, anime, and other featured content categories.
According to the introduction, the newly released "AI Original Voice Translation" feature goes beyond basic text translation capabilities such as automatically replacing Chinese subtitles with English ones, translating bullet comments (danmaku), and adapting various interface buttons to English. The innovative feature can preserve the original creator's vocal characteristics, tone, and breathing patterns rather than using traditional machine-generated voice translation. Additionally, it can simulate lip-sync movements based on the translated language.
This development represents Bilibili's continued efforts to enhance user experience for its international audience as the platform consolidates its global presence under a single unified application.
