At the China Development Forum 2026 held from March 22 to March 23, Xu Ran, CEO of JD.com, delivered a speech highlighting the emergence of new AI-driven consumer scenarios. During the recent Spring Festival, humanoid robots became the most sought-after electronic holiday gift, with related product searches surging by over 300% year-on-year.
Xu noted that current growth in robotics consumption is constrained by limited supply. However, she expressed confidence that as production capacity expands further, consumption in this sector will continue to grow. Beyond humanoid robots, she pointed out that AI-powered childcare companion robots are also entering more households. Xu expressed optimism that increased adoption of robotics will help boost overall consumer confidence.
Additionally, Xu revealed that JD.com is building the world's largest and most comprehensive embodied intelligence data center. Within two years, the company aims to accumulate over 10 million hours of real-world scenario data spanning logistics, home, urban environments, and other key areas. The goal is to open access to this data to support the rapid development of the robotics industry ecosystem.
