Chinese and Hong Kong Stocks Open Higher, ChiNext Up 1%, Optical Modules Lead Gains

China's A-share market opened higher across the board, with the ChiNext Index rising 1%, the Shanghai Composite Index up 0.11%, and the Shenzhen Component Index gaining 0.66%. Leading sectors included memory chips, CPO (co-packaged optics), and defense, while power grid stocks continued their upward trend. Nearly 2,200 stocks advanced in the Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Beijing markets.

Hong Kong stocks also opened higher, with the Hang Seng Index and Hang Seng Tech Index extending intraday gains to 1%.

Bond markets opened lower, with the 30-year Treasury futures contract down 0.09%, the 10-year contract falling 0.03%, and the 5-year contract dipping 0.01%. The 2-year contract remained flat.

Commodities showed mixed performance.

At 10:24 AM, the FTSE China A50 Index futures expanded gains to 1%.

By 10:21 AM, the Hang Seng Index and Hang Seng Tech Index extended intraday gains to 1%. China Hongqiao surged over 5%, while China Life Insurance climbed more than 3%. SMIC rose over 3%, with Alibaba, Haier Smart Home, and Hua Hong Semiconductor up more than 2%.

At 10:09 AM, power grid stocks continued their rally, with China Zenith surging nearly 15%, while Jiamei Electric, Chint Electric, and Baobian Electric hit the 10% daily limit. China XD Electric approached the upper limit.

By 9:59 AM, InnoLight and New Seaunion gained over 4%, leading the optical module sector.

At 9:46 AM, the semiconductor sector in A-shares strengthened further, with Deming Microelectronics hitting the daily limit, Hygon Information up over 5%, and Cambricon, SMIC, and Huahai Chengke advancing.

At 9:32 AM, the ChiNext Index rose 1%.

By 9:29 AM, Treasury futures opened with the 30-year contract down 0.09%, the 10-year contract falling 0.03%, the 5-year contract dipping 0.01%, and the 2-year contract flat.

At 9:28 AM, the CSI Convertible Bond Index opened 0.01% lower. Jinlang Convertible Bond 02 surged 30%, triggering a temporary halt, while Sanjiao and Zhenhua Convertible Bonds rose over 4%. Qibin Convertible Bond dropped more than 2%, with Dazhong and Hongtu Convertible Bonds down over 1%.

By 9:22 AM, the Hang Seng Index opened 0.49% higher, while the Hang Seng Tech Index gained 0.63%. Pony.ai, WeRide, and Joyson Electronics debuted on the Hong Kong Exchange, opening down nearly 11%, nearly 8%, and 2.3%, respectively. Hua Hong Semiconductor rose 3%, and SMIC climbed over 2%.

At 9:18 AM, the PBOC set the USD/CNY central parity rate at 7.0865, up 36 pips from the previous day's 7.0901. The previous official closing rate was 7.1246, while the overnight rate settled at 7.1276.

At 9:00 AM, commodity futures opened with coking coal, coke, soybean No.1, soybean meal, silver, soybean No.2, TSR20 rubber, and caustic soda futures up over 1%. Bitumen, propylene, European container shipping, and crude oil futures fell more than 1%.

The FTSE China A50 Index futures rose 0.38% in early trading, following a 0.50% gain in the previous night session.
