In Chengxi Village, Haitou Town, Lianyungang City, a special charity event has brought laughter and joy to elderly residents. "At my age, it's been years since I had a proper photo taken!" one senior remarked. "Oh, look! This one turned out really nice!" another exclaimed with delight. To promote the traditional virtue of respecting the elderly, China Mobile's Lianyungang branch in Jiangsu province recently organized a volunteer team to visit rural areas and conduct a "Capturing the Sunset Years" charity photography activity. The volunteers took free photographs for left-behind elderly villagers, providing on-site printing and elegant photo frames to preserve precious memories for them.
On the day of the event, volunteers arrived early with cameras, portable printers, and frames. The village committee's activity room filled with elderly participants whose faces showed eager anticipation. Volunteers patiently adjusted collars, combed hair, and carefully arranged seating positions and camera angles for each senior. With each click of the shutter, the genuine smiles of the elders were captured one by one.
Following the photography session, volunteers operated portable equipment to quickly print, laminate, and frame the photographs before presenting them to the elderly participants. Seventy-two-year-old Grandma Li held her newly received photo, examining it repeatedly with an unreserved smile. "I've had very few proper photos in my lifetime," she shared. "You've been so thoughtful - this means more than anything!"
Beyond the group photography session, volunteers thoughtfully provided door-to-door services for homebound seniors with mobility challenges. During breaks between photographs, they chatted with elders about daily life, inquired about health conditions and living situations, while simultaneously explaining communication network fraud prevention in easy-to-understand terms to help seniors protect their financial security.
A single photograph carries profound warmth. This charitable photography activity not only created valuable visual memories for rural seniors but also made them feel cared for and valued by society. Moving forward, China Mobile's Lianyungang branch will continue to develop diverse elderly assistance programs, dedicating efforts to practical support for seniors and fulfilling corporate social responsibility through concrete actions.
