In just four months, Chen, a store manager, exploited his position to misappropriate sales revenue from the store for personal use, including purchasing POP MART products and covering daily expenses, resulting in company losses exceeding 900,000 yuan. On August 20, information obtained from China Judgments Online revealed that Chen was sentenced to two years in prison in June this year for the crime of job-related embezzlement.

According to the trial findings by the Wenling City People's Court of Zhejiang Province, from October 2024 to January 2025, defendant Chen utilized his position as store manager at a Times Square location in Wenling to misappropriate revenue from sales of mobile phones, tablets, and other electronic devices. He used these funds to purchase POP MART products and cover other personal expenses, causing total company losses of 929,371 yuan.

As of June 26, defendant Chen and his family members had repaid 344,369 yuan to the company. In March this year, Wenling City Public Security Bureau officers arrested defendant Chen at a hotel in Wenling. After being taken into custody, Chen truthfully confessed to the facts of his case.

The investigation also revealed that Chen voluntarily pleaded guilty and accepted punishment, agreeing to the prosecution's sentencing recommendation of two years imprisonment for job-related embezzlement plus a fine, and signed the relevant documents.

The first-instance court determined that defendant Chen, as a company employee, used his position to illegally appropriate company property for personal use in a substantial amount, constituting the crime of job-related embezzlement. The prosecution's charges were established.

Given that defendant Chen truthfully confessed to his crimes after arrest, voluntarily pleaded guilty and accepted punishment, and had already made partial restitution to the victim company, the court decided to impose a reduced sentence in accordance with the law.

The court's first-instance judgment sentenced defendant Chen to two years imprisonment for job-related embezzlement and imposed a fine of 50,000 yuan. Additionally, the court ordered defendant Chen to pay restitution of over 580,000 yuan to the victim company.
