On the afternoon of September 2, Trip.com Group Limited issued an internal email announcing that starting September 1, remote work applications no longer require direct supervisor approval and will be automatically approved upon submission. It is understood that this adjustment uses all product and R&D employees as a pilot group, aimed at further improving employee work-life balance (WLB).
The original notice reads as follows: To All Staff - Since the policy was introduced in 2022, hybrid work has provided employees with more flexible working arrangements. As of now, 70% of employees have participated, with approximately 640,000 cumulative remote work instances. To further enhance employee work-life balance and foster a culture of trust and self-motivation, the company will pilot this initiative with product and R&D sequence employees by removing the direct supervisor approval step for hybrid work applications. This means employees will no longer need supervisor approval when applying for hybrid work - applications will be automatically approved upon submission, and application information will be synchronized to notify supervisors. Please promote and communicate this change to relevant internal teams to ensure related employees understand this update.
Pilot scope: Domestic confirmed T-sequence and PT-sequence employees. Pilot period: Starting from September 1, 2025 (attendance system adjustments will also go live officially on September 1).
