U.S. stocks ended sharply ​higher on ​Monday (June 29), with the Dow hitting a record closing high, as weekend hostilities between the United States and Iran eased and as major technology-related shares rose following recent selling.

Tesla Motors added 8.5% on Monday. CEO Elon Musk posted to social media over the weekend that SpaceX’s Grok 4.5 AI model was “perhaps” better than products from Anthropic. He added that the model was being used by Tesla.

SpaceX joined a new index – the Russell 1000 – and the stock rose 7.2%. Shares of Elon Musk’s rocket and AI company have fallen 24% since its closing high on June 16. SpaceX also joins the Nasdaq 100 on July 7.

Amazon.com stock rallied 3.2% on Monday, bouncing back after a rough week for shares of the e-commerce and cloud-computing behemoth. Amazon's gains came within a strong day overall for the Magnificent Seven. And shares also climbed 2.5% on Friday to regain some ground after a slide earlier in the week. Overall, Amazon fell 4.8% in last week's trading.
