Tech industry leaders including Meta Platforms' Mark Zuckerberg, Apple's Tim Cook, and Microsoft's Satya Nadella are expected to attend an artificial intelligence (AI) event hosted by First Lady Melania Trump on Thursday, followed by a dinner reception hosted by President Donald Trump at the newly renovated Rose Garden.

A White House official indicated that other expected attendees include OpenAI's Sam Altman, Alphabet's Sergey Brin and Sundar Pichai, as well as Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates. Alexandr Wang, who recently joined Meta's AI project, is also among the invited guests.

The First Lady announced last month that she would launch a presidential challenge encouraging students to use emerging AI technologies to find solutions to community challenges. The White House stated that this initiative will also encourage educators to adopt AI in their classrooms.

Representatives from Meta and OpenAI declined to comment. Spokespeople from Microsoft, OpenAI, Apple, and Alphabet's Google did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

"The White House Rose Garden Club is the hottest venue in Washington and around the world. The President looks forward to welcoming top leaders from business, politics, and technology to this dinner, as well as many future dinners on the newly renovated, beautiful new Rose Garden terrace," White House spokesperson Davis Ingle said in a statement to The Hill, which first reported on the event and expected guest list.
