U.S. Bank Strategists: S&P 500 Could See ~20% Annual Gain; Gold May Surge 30%

Strategists at Bank of America indicate that U.S. equities and gold are poised for a fourth consecutive year of double-digit gains, a remarkably robust performance that is rare in historical terms. The team, led by Michael Hartnett, suggests the S&P 500 index could achieve an annual increase of approximately 20%, while gold may potentially rise by 30%. For the stock market, the strategists note that such sustained and substantial gains have historically only occurred during World War II, in the relatively peaceful post-war years, and during the bubble phase from 1995 to 1999. Hartnett and his team believe that, bolstered by the resilience of the U.S. economy, small-cap stocks, emerging markets, and commodities "are all approaching a long-term inflection point for a bull market."
