Firefly's limited-edition variant of the brand's sole model, the Firefly EV, has sold out, marking a successful exploration of more flexible sales strategies for the Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO) sub-brand.
"30 hours, Nomadic Maillard Edition sold out!" Firefly president Daniel Jin wrote today in his WeChat status. Jin is on CnEVPost's contact list on WeChat.
"Thank you all for your support. We aim to build the world's best small car!" he said.
Firefly launched the "Nomadic Maillard" limited edition for the Firefly EV on August 25, with only 333 units available for immediate delivery upon order.
Maillard style refers to layering different shades of brown to create a warm, pleasant, and energetic aesthetic.
The new special edition Firefly EV features a low-saturation color scheme with exclusive decals and wheel designs, showcased at Nio stores across 48 cities.

Under the BaaS (Battery as a Service) battery rental plan, the special edition variant starts at RMB 93,800 with a monthly battery rental fee of RMB 399.

Local media outlet AutoPix reported on August 22 that Firefly would introduce a special edition EV in China based on the European version of its compact hatchback, as it significantly ramps up production capacity.
The new variant is highly likely to be launched at Nio Day 2025 in September, alongside the official launch of the third-generation Nio ES8, the report stated.
Nio Inc delivered 21,017 vehicles in July, including 2,366 Firefly units -- a 39.83 percent decrease from June.
Earlier today, Deutsche Bank analyst Wang Bin's team projected in a research note that Nio Inc's August deliveries would come in at around 32,000 units, with 4,000 Firefly vehicles.
