Indonesia's Ministry of Religious Affairs has reported that there are 91,028 Islamic education teachers holding positions who are participating in the professional education program (PPG) this year. Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar stated that if they pass the PPG, they will receive a professional allowance (TPG) starting in 2026. He mentioned that the provision of TPG is a form of commitment from President Prabowo Subianto.
"The Ministry of Religious Affairs is committed to supporting President Prabowo's national priority program," Nasaruddin said in a statement in Jakarta on Monday, August 18, 2025.
Nasaruddin conveyed that this policy is in line with Prabowo's directive to complete teacher certification through the PPG comprehensively this year. He emphasized that the TPG for non-civil servant teachers has been increased.
According to the provisions, teachers who pass the PPG in the current year will receive TPG in the following year. The amount of TPG for civil servant teachers (PNS and PPPK) is equivalent to one month's salary, while non-civil servant teachers receive Rp 2 million per month, an increase from the previous Rp 1.5 million.
Director General of Islamic Education Amien Suyitno stated that despite budget efficiency policies, PPG PAI will still be completed this year. The financing scheme comes from the state budget, regional budgets, and the National Alms Agency (Baznas).
"After certifying all in-office Islamic education teachers this year, we can focus more on improving the competence of other Islamic education teachers in the coming years," he said.
Director of Islamic Education at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, M. Munir, mentioned that teachers who pass as participants in the second batch of PPG PAI in 2025 can check their status through their respective Islamic Education Teacher Alert accounts. The PPG learning implementation will begin in early September 2025.
"I urge all participants to immediately go through the reporting process at the designated LPTK, from August 18 to 31, 2025," Munir said.
The Ministry of Finance has distributed the first phase of TPG in 2025 amounting to Rp 16.71 trillion. The funds were directly transferred to the accounts of 1.44 million civil servant teachers without going through the regional treasury mechanism as before. This new policy has been implemented since March 2025 with the aim of making the distribution faster, more efficient, and transparent.
Based on data from the Ministry of Finance, the total allocation for TPG in 2025 reached Rp 66.92 trillion for 1,522,727 civil servant teachers throughout Indonesia. In the first phase, the government has distributed Rp 16.71 trillion to 1.44 million recipient teachers. Meanwhile, around 84,000 teachers are still in the process of meeting the administrative requirements to receive the allowance.
The Minister of Finance stated that the second phase distribution is planned to start in June 2025 with value and the number of recipients adjusted based on the realization of the first phase.
