Hesai Group (NASDAQ: HSAI) announced today that it will supply LiDAR to a Toyota joint venture brand in China, marking the latest development in the business of China's largest LiDAR maker.

Hesai did not mention the name of the joint venture brand, but said that the automaker's new energy vehicle (NEV) models will be equipped with its compact and long-range ATX LiDAR and will go into mass production in 2026.

The Toyota joint venture is accelerating its entry into the intelligent vehicle market with NEV models as its growth engine, with advanced smart driving technology taking the lead and local R&D efforts in full swing, Hesai said.

The partnership signifies that Hesai's competitiveness in the LiDAR field has once again been recognized by an internationally renowned automaker and marks the beginning of a new chapter in the company's cooperation with Japanese automakers, it said in a statement.

ATX is equipped with Hesai's cutting-edge fourth-generation chip architecture technology and upgraded laser transceiver modules, achieving powerful performance in a compact size, it said.

The LiDAR sensor has received orders from several leading automakers and has been planned by many customers as standard equipment for mass-produced models in 2025-2026, Hesai said.

Hesai achieved revenue of RMB 710 million ($98.9 million) in the second quarter, an increase of over 50 percent year-on-year, with net income exceeding RMB 40 million, according to its unaudited financial report released earlier today.

Its LiDAR shipments reached 352,095 units in the second quarter, a year-on-year increase of 306.9 percent.

Of these, 303,564 units were for automotive ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) LiDAR, up 275.8 percent year-on-year.

LiDAR deliveries for the robotics sector reached 48,531 units, up 743.6 percent year-on-year.

In the first half of 2025, Hesai's LiDAR shipments reached 547,913 units, up 276.2 percent year-on-year, surpassing the full-year 2024 figure.
