Zeekr (NYSE: ZK) will update four of its best-selling models in the remainder of the year and launch two new models.
The electric vehicle (EV) maker shared the plan on Weibo today, partly to avoid negative comments triggered by sudden model updates as in the past.
The Zeekr X compact EV will be updated in September or the fourth quarter, with a new version featuring the Golden Battery and interior details adjusted, the company said.
The Golden Battery was unveiled in December 2023 and is based on lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry, the same chemical system used in BYD's (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) iconic Blade Battery.
The first Zeekr model to feature the Golden Battery is the Zeekr 007, an electric sedan that was launched in late December 2023, marking the company's first model targeting the mainstream EV market.
In addition to the Zeekr X, Zeekr will complete updates to the Zeekr 007, Zeekr 001 shooting brake, and Zeekr 7X SUV (sport utility vehicle) in the fourth quarter, the company announced today.
The updated Zeekr 007 will feature adjustments to interior and exterior details, while the advanced driving assistance system, battery and electric drive systems will remain unchanged.
The updated Zeekr 001 will be equipped with Nvidia's Thor-U chip and will use a 900-volt high-voltage system, with minor adjustments to interior and exterior details.
The updated Zeekr 7X will feature the Thor-U chip and a 900-volt high-voltage system on some variants, with minor adjustments to interior and exterior details.
Zeekr has no update plans for its other currently available models this year, it said.
In addition to the above four models, Zeekr's other currently available models include the Zeekr 007 GT, Zeekr 001 FR, Zeekr 009, Zeekr 009 Grand, and Zeekr Mix.
During the product transition period, Zeekr is offering limited-time benefits, including 5-year interest-free financing, for the Zeekr X, Zeekr 007, Zeekr 001, and Zeekr 7X, according to the company.
Zeekr will begin pre-sales of the Zeekr 9X at the Chengdu auto show at the end of this month. The full-size luxury SUV made its debut at the Shanghai auto show in late April.
The Zeekr 9X is Zeekr's first hybrid model and its first model built on the SEA-S architecture.
Additionally, the company would launch the Zeekr 8X in the fourth quarter, according to CEO Andy An during Geely Auto's first-quarter earnings call on May 15.
No further details about the Zeekr 8X are currently available, but based on its name, the model is likely to be a smaller, more affordable hybrid SUV than the Zeekr 9X.
