The property sector has warned that the Allan government’s plan to enshrine remote working into law risks undermining confidence in Melbourne’s CBD just as it was starting to show signs of finally recovering from pandemic lockdowns.
The Property Council of Australia’s latest office market report found that Melbourne still has the highest office vacancy rates of any capital city, but for the first time since the pandemic bucked the national trend and recorded a small decline in the number of empty office spaces.
