TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has issued Presidential Regulation Number 81 of 2025 concerning Special Allowances for Specialist Doctors, Subspecialist Doctors, Specialist Dentists, and Subspecialist Dentists Serving in Underdeveloped, Border, and Island Regions (DTPK).

This regulation provides a special allowance of Rp 30,012,000 per month to 1,100 doctors in DPTK. The doctors who will receive this allowance are specialist doctors, subspecialist doctors, specialist dentists, and subspecialist dentists in DTPK.

Head of the Presidential Communication Office, Hasan Nasbi, stated that this policy is the government's presence for the doctors. "This policy is a form of appreciation and the government's presence for doctors who dedicate themselves sincerely in areas with limited access," Hasan said in an official statement on Monday, August 4, 2025.

Hasan stated that the determination of recipient areas is prioritized based on several criteria, including areas with limited access, areas lacking medical personnel, and locations requiring affirmative intervention or support from the central government.

In addition to the allowance, these doctors will also have the opportunity for tiered training and career development. Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin stated on March 28, 2025, that the special allowance for specialist and subspecialist doctors in DTPK is a form of the state's preference for doctors serving in areas with limited access.

The government stated that the equal distribution of medical personnel in remote areas remains a major challenge. Therefore, those serving in remote areas need to receive fair, adequate, and sustainable incentives.

Presidential Regulation Number 81 of 2025 governs the special monthly allowance for these doctors, in addition to the basic salary and other applicable allowances according to employment regulations. It is not yet known when this regulation was signed by Prabowo. This regulation has not been uploaded to the Legal Documentation and Information Network of the Ministry of State Secretariat.
