AUDI, a new brand jointly launched by Volkswagen's premium car brand Audi and SAIC, will begin pre-sales of its first model, the E5 Sportback, on August 18, according to a report by local media Dongchedi today.
The all-electric midsize vehicle is based on the AUDI E concept and will hit the market by the end of this summer, the report said.
The E5 Sportback is built on the Advanced Digitized Platform electric vehicle platform developed through Audi's collaboration with SAIC, and will be produced at SAIC Audi's AUDI production base, the report noted.
Audi launched the AUDI brand in November 2024, with its logo featuring the AUDI lettering instead of the iconic four rings.
The automaker unveiled a concept car called the E concept at the time, stating that it was 95 percent close to production and would be officially launched in the first half of 2025.
The AUDI E5 Sportback made its debut at the 2025 Shanghai auto show in late April. It is a B-class Sportback in a shooting brake style, similar to Nio's (NYSE: NIO) ET5 Touring.
Its length, width, and height are 4,881 mm, 1,960 mm, and 1,479 mm, respectively, with a wheelbase of 2,950 mm.
In comparison, the Nio ET5 Touring has a length, width, and height of 4,790 mm, 1,960 mm, and 1,499 mm, respectively, with a wheelbase of 2,888 mm.
The AUDI E5 Sportback is built on an 800-volt high-voltage platform and will offer single-motor and dual-motor powertrain options, using batteries from CATL (SHE: 300750), according to its regulatory filing.
Its battery packs come in 83.3 kWh and 100 kWh options, with a range of 647 to 697 kilometers.
